Exporting to overseas markets is a hugely important part of Intercall’s business. We’re honoured to have nurtured long-standing relationships with distribution partners around the globe, our partnership with International Technical Sources and United Medical Hospital Systems, being one such relationship.
We caught up with father and son team, Nasser and Ali Khalil of International Technical Sources in Jordan and United Medical Hospital Systems in London, to find out more about their business and the on-going partnership with Intercall.
Nasser started by telling us how he’d originally set up the business in Saudi Arabia, before relocating operations to Jordan. The family have two business arms. Nasser heads up International Technical Sources, a distributor of medical devices, particularly nurse call from Intercall. While Nasser’s son, Ali, runs United Medical Hospital Systems, offering a full design and planning service for hospitals in the UK and globally from their base in Canary Wharf, London.
Nasser told us how they’ve worked for over twenty years with Intercall, saying “our first projects were with the Intercall 600 nurse call system in Jordan and Taif in Saudi. Intercall had a reputation for producing reliable systems that were simple to install, as opposed to more complicated & expensive competition.” He went on to say, “They also demonstrated an understanding for product adaptation to suit different markets and were able to produce a dedicated code blue point from the very beginning, an essential nurse call component in the Middle East”.
Talking about the partnership, Nasser told us, “it was a success from the start. Intercall are an established system and brand. Working together we have created a recognised and reputable brand, renowned in Jordan. Every country is unique in the way it works, which is why you need a local partner, I think Intercall recognise this and in turn benefit by working with ITS in Jordan. We have worked hard to get the system Ministry of Health approval, which is essential to working in the region”.
Over the past ten years, International Technical Sources has supplied and installed over 5,000 beds with the Intercall 600 nurse call system and 1,000 with the Intercall 700 speech system. More recently, they have started to introduce Intercall’s premium nurse call system, Touch, to hospitals and healthcare facilities across the region.
Referring to the support the business receives from Intercall, Nasser and Ali told us, “our latest project was the 800 bed Princess Basma Hospital, which required a speech system. We offered the Intercall 700 L753 Intercom Point, but the client also insisted on a Touchscreen Display with speech, so we approached Intercall who enabled the Touch Display Plus to work with 700 for us”.
So, what’s next for the partnership? Nasser told us, “we are currently working with Intercall Export Manager, Adam Daniels, to arrange a seminar and presentation in Jordan to the MOH, RMS (Royal Medical Services) and consultants. Working together, the sky’s the limit.”
