Hampshire County Council embarked on a huge project to replace their existing radio based call systems and upgrade to the new Intercall Touch series in the majority of the council run homes in Hampshire.
Phase one identified eight homes which were in full occupation operating 24 hours a day 7 days a week, so careful consideration had to be given to allow works to be well planned and completed on time.
Intercall worked closely with Saturn Sales and Services who installed and commissioned the system, to ensure work was carried out safely. An operating call point in every room throughout the works was essential, keeping interruption to a minimum was a priority for all.
The Touch Series was such an improvement on the existing call system, with staff quickly getting to grips with the new Care Card, which registered their attendance at every room they visited as well as clearing down nurse calls. Care cards were also used at sensitive doors helping improve security and accountability.
The nurse call colour touch screen display panels were a real hit with staff, displaying so much more information than the previous system, as staff can now attend many calls forewarned to deal with certain events.
Hampshire County Council wanted alerts from the call system to also ring on portable phones and selected a phone system with the assistance of their integrator. Messages from the call system could now be managed and passed to individual phones.
The Intercall Touch system has greatly assisted Hampshire County Council in improving performance as well as future proofing the call system’s capabilities at these homes. Hampshire County Council are already planning further upgrades and changeouts.
